Register to Vote

Our most important responsibility as citizens is to ensure that our voice is heard. If you are not registered to vote, please do so below!

Vote by Mail

If you are a Rhode Island voter who is unable, or prefer not, to go the polls on Election Day, you can vote by mail. Click below learn about applying for a mail ballot.

 

How to Vote

There are 4 ways to vote in the democratic primary election on September 13th, 2022, and the general election on November 8th, 2022.  You can check to make sure you're registered to vote at the link below.

1. Mail Ballot

The deadline for applying to vote by mail in the 9/13 democratic primary is Tuesday 8/23/2022 at 4:00 pm. If you have not applied for a mail ballot by 8/23, then you must vote either early in-person at city hall, or at your polling location on election day.​

Mail ballots will be sent to all voters who completed and returned their mail ballot application before the deadline.

Once you complete you mail ballot, you can drop it off at city hall in a secure dropbox outside.

2. Early In-Person

The next easiest way to vote early is by casting your vote during the early in-person voting period. From August 24th - September 12th at 4:00 p.m. ​You can vote in Cranston at the Peter T. Pastore, Jr. Youth Center during regular business hours (weekdays, except Labor Day, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m)

3. Emergency Mail Ballot

Voters can request an emergency mail ballot after the 8/23 mail ballot deadline. Voters who would like to request an emergency mail ballot are encourage to contact the Cranston Board of Canvassers or stop by City Hall to make the request, as circumstances for requesting one vary.

4. On Election Day

You can vote at your usual polling location on election day, November 8th from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Make sure to check your polling location prior to election day, as they often change. You can confirm your polling location here.

Expect lines on election day and be sure to bring your ID.

Check Your Voter Registration

If you are not registered to vote, you can register on-line. You will need:

  • Your Rhode Island DMV issued driver's license or State ID number

  • Your name as it appears on your Rhode Island driver's license or State ID card

  • Your date of birth

Alternatively, you may complete the form without your driver's license or State ID number for paper submission.
